JURY-TAMPERING CHARGE.

DETECTIVE'S EVIDENCE.

(BT CABI*—PBISS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT.) (AUSTRALIAN AND H.Z CABL* ASSOCIATION.)

WASHINGTON, November 8,

William Long, a member of the Burns* Detective Agency, swore that H. R. Lamb, a Justice Department employee, talked at Potomac Flying Field with a juror named Norman Glasscock. He failed to identify Lamb. Both Glasscock and Lamb denied being at the field.

[The trial of Harry Sinclair, an oil magnate, and A. B. Fall, formerly Minister for the Interior, on a charge of conspiracy to defraud the Government in connexion with the leases of oil lands at Elk Hills and Teapot Dome, was stopped on account of allegations of jury-tampering, and was later declared a mis-trial. It was stated that members of a detective agency, working on behalf of Sinclair, had attempted to tamper with the jury, while members of the detective agency concerned, on the other hand, alleged that overtures had been made on the Governments behalf to jurors.]
