MRS J. CAUGHLEY KILLED

ACCIDENT IN WELLINGTON. (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELESSAU.I WELLINGTON, November 6. Raroa road and Norway street were this morning the scene df a fatal accident. Mr J. Caughley, late Director o£ Education, and recently appointed Director of Education for Fiji, was returning from church in his motor-car with Mrs Caughley :ind family, when, turning a corner in Raroa road, he observed a boy on a bicycle. Each tried to avoid the other, ihe boy swinging outwards. Mr Caughley : s car struck the bicycle, ajid the boy, bicycle, and car went over a 120 foot bank on to Norway street below. The car turned over twice during the fall. Mrs Caughley was killed, being jammed under the car. Mr Caughley received a severe cut across the nose. The boy had his ankle badly hurt, and the other occupants in the car received bruises and suffered from shock.
