PROPOSED ALLIANCE.

TRANSPORT JVORKERS' OPPOSITION.

(BT CABLI—PEBSS ASSOCIATION—OOPTBIOHT) (AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. AND SUN CABLE.)

LONDON, September 23

The Transport Workers' Union killed the proposed alliance with the miners, railwaymen, engineers, and others.

The secretary, Mr Ernest Bevin, pointed out that a similar alliance under the General Council of the Trades Congress broke down in the 1926 strike, for which reason his union, after careful consideration, was terminating its association with the industrial alliance, and vesting sole authority in its own executive on the delegate conference ballot.
