REPLY TO CRITICISM. (raussj association, telegbam.) DUNEDIN, September 24. Commenting .on the Canterbury Education Board's criticism of the Education Department, Mr Tv B. Strong, Director of Education, took exception to the statement. that the Department showed no desire to cooperate with the Boards, which was the more astounding as- it was made on the day when he conferred for three hours with representatives of the Board. At to the alleged multiplicity of the civil servants, if his Department were staffed as liberally as the Boards thought necessary in their own offices, the Departmental staff would be increased by half.
