INSURGENTS SENTENCED TO DEATH. (bt cable—press association*—copyright). (AUSTRALIAN AND K.Z. CABLS AS3OCIATIOX.) RIGA, September 20. Further sentences on the Taurage insurgents include eight sentenced to death, one of whom was immediately executed. The others were permitted to appeal. The President commuted the sentences on nine more to penal servitude for life, while others were sent to prison for varying terms. [On September 14th, Communist revolts broke out in many parts of Lithuania organised by the Left nolitical groups. The town of Taurage was for 14 hours in the hands of the rebels, but the Government proclaimed a state of war and rapidly crushed the movement. Over 1000 arrests were made.]
