A salvo of guns from a cruiser set on an eminence in the grounds of d'Annunzio's castle, near Lake Garda, inaugurated a ceremony of a remarkable charatcer for which the poetpatriot opened his doors to the world for the first time for years.

The cruiser is the Puglia, on which cl'Annunzio served during the war, and which he recently received from Signor Mussolini as a present.. Five hundred guests saw a play, each scene being heralded by cannon shots. The cruiser was taken ashore in parts and reassembled.
