COMPETITION IN ENGLAND. COMPANIES SEEK POWER TO RUN BUSES. (BT CABLE—riIE3S ASSOCIATION- COPYRIGHT.) (AUSTRALIAN AMD N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION - .) (Received September 21st, 7.3-3 p.m.) LONDON, Septomber 20. England's four railway companies have each drafted a Bill seeking power to run motor services. They intend depositing these 'as soon as Parliament meets in November. Hie companies ah'-o propose to invest capital in existing motor services anil to enter into agreements with them. The railways claim that their projected road-feeders to stations would cheapen transport costs and provide nioro complete passenger services. They base their right to the roads on the assertion that they are the largest individual contributors to road construction and maintenance. The railways unions are supporting the proposal, but the "Westminster Gazette" understands that the Bills will meet a determined opposition by powerful road transport interests.
