ACCLIMATISATION.

NORTH CANTERBUIRY ASSOCIATION. A meeting _of tie .Council of the North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society was liold last night, Mr 0. H. Lawrence presiding. Present -wore—Messrs P. J. Wilson, G. Ebert, \V. G. Ives, W. D. Berry, W. O. Rerinie, R. AShworth, H. Anderson, \V. Deans, L. R. Brunton, 0. H. Buchanan, 1). M. Bradbury, D. Hobbs, G. Stokell, F. W. Billins, G. T. Robertson, C. R. Clark, C. J. Sloman, and Prof. Speight. The report of the Selwyn Committee stated that it had been resolved to obtain a quotation for the painting of the ranger's but and garage at the Selwyn, It had been resolved' to recommend that the fishing season be ot the same duration as last year. The question of allowing worm fishing was recommended to the Council for consideration. The Rakaia Committee reported that it had been resolved that the Society be asked to erect a notice on the Society's reserve forbidding the use of firearms of any sort. The committee recommended that this be given effect to before the commencement of tho fishing season. It was further resolved that all boats wero to be moored fore and aft in the creek. It was decided that a circular letter bo forwarded to all hutowners requesting them to cut gprse at the back of their huts to make a flro break. The Lakes Committee recommended, that the following liberations bo made in tlio back-country:—Rainbow: Coleridge 20,000, Grassmere 2500, Snowdon 2000, Rubicon 1000. Brown trout: Coleridge 20,000, Monks 5000, Ida 5000, Evelyn 5000. The reports were adopted. Advice was received that the Department of Internal Affairs had appointed Mr J. IC. JlcAlpine, of Craigieburn, to be an honorary ranger for the Society.
