COWLISHAW CUP. Tho first annual teams' competition for a handsomo silver cup given by Miss Cowli; shaw created great interest amongst the eleven clubs eligible for the match, and entries were received from ten clubs, ranging as far south as Ashburton and as far north as Hawarden. Unfortunatelly, the weather yesterday morning was unfavourable, and the Ashburton Club was unable to send its representatives. The other teams, however, arrived punctually at Shirley, where they were the guests of the Christehureh Ladies' Golf Club. The weather improved slightly as tho day wore on, and the players, each of whom played with a Shirley partner, spent an enjoyable day. The Hagley Club, with a net score of 342, were the winners of the cup, with. Ha warden a good second, only one stroke behind. The outstanding individual scores were those of Miss E, Parsons, of Amberley, whoso net score was 77, and Miss V. Fleming,f o£ Hagley, who, with a handicap of 20, did a net score of 79, which, considering that it was her first gamo on the Shirley links and that the weather was not helpful, was a yery creditable performance. Nest in order of merit were two net scores of 80, handed in by Miss Betty Rutherford and Mrs D. Macdonald, both of Hawarden. At the conclusion of the match, Mrs Boyle, president of the Christehureh Ladies' Golf Club, thanked Miss Cowlish&w for her generosity, and presented the Cup to Miss Cotton, captain of the Hagley Club, with her congratulations on the club's success.
