BIG LONDON ROBBERY.
MUCH JEWELLERY SECURED* (by cable— press association— copyright.) (AUSTRALIAN AND N.K. CABLE ASSOCIATION.) LONDON, September 20. A daring burglary was carried out at Ponting's West End store. Tt was clearly the work of experts, who secured several 'thousands of pounds' worth of frocks and jewellery. They crossed the electric railway, opened a window with a diamond, and forced up the steel door dividing the departments, all being done so quietly that the patrolling watchman -lid not hear a sound.
The thieves escaped over roofs and walls to a motor-car in a street a block distant. No arrests liavo been made.
