A letter was received from the City Council in reply to the League's protest against tlio raising of a chanelling loan -without the question being submitted to poll of the ratepayers of the district, stating that before the City Council applied to the Local Government Loans Board for its sanction raise the loan, the Council would- advertise its intention to do so, and the League would have an opportunity of making a formal protest then. Sturrock brought forward the matter of a subdivision in St. James avenue. He stated that a reserve had been given which was of no use to the district. The frontage was just over 30 feet wide, with a depth of three chains. As a building section it would be useless, and soon would become an eyesore to the district. He also stated that a 20ft strip had been offered connecting Windermere street with St. James avenue. If this had been accepted it would havo proved a great benefit to the district. Mr W. G. Chapman said that these small reserves were of no value, and the position should be reviewed. After considerable discussion it wbb decided to protest against the City Council's action in accepting the small section as a reserve in preference to' the 20ft right-of-way which had been offered.
