kangiora. The annual meeting of members of tho Methodist Tennis Glub was held in the schoolroom l on Monday, the president. Rev. C. Blair, presiding over a ffooa attendance. The annual report was read, the committee congratulating the members on a successful year and increased membership. The financial statement showed a satisfactory credit balance. The report and balancesheet were adopted. Officers were elected as follows: —President, the Rev. O. Blair and ten vice-presidents; club» captain, Mr H. J. Benjes; vice-captain, Mr N. Baillie; secretary and treasurer, Mr R. Lane; delegates to North Canterbury Tennis Association, Messrs H. J. Benjes and M. A. Baillie. It was decided to open the season Qn Saturday, October Ist. A meeting of tho Kangiora High School Board of Governors was held on Tuesday evening. Present: Mr C. I. Jennings (chairman) and Messrs R. Ball, W. A. Rowse. H. K. Kippenberger, and tho Rev. W. R. Hutcbeson. The actioji of the chairman in securing temporary assistance during the illness of Miss Todd was confirmed The Canterbury Progress League wrote thanking the Board for 'its annual grant. The Goro High School _ Board wrote seeking information in regard to charges for the upkeep of rector's residences. It was decided to give, the information required. Thie secretary of the Railway Traffic Department wrote thanking the Board for the assistanco given chtring the visit of the . Otago farmers to Rangiora. The acting-prin-cipal, Mr A. J. Ferguson, reported the roll number to.be: Boys 65 and girls 70 —total 135. The report was received. The treasurer reported that the finances were in a very, much improved position. ■ , SPRINGSTON. There was a good attendance at the weekly, euchre and dance held in the hall on Saturday evening. The prizewinners were Mrs J. A. Benny, sen., and Mr R. K. Holmes. The hall was cleared for dancing after supper had been served, Mr E. Wall supplying the music. Mrs J. A. Benny (Lincoln), contributed extras, and Mr E. Neale was M.C.
