DEMPSEY AND TUNNEY.
| TRAINING COMPLETED. I EFFORTS TO STOP FIGHT. (by cabli—paiss assocutiok—conaiOHT) (AOSTBALIAH AND K.I. CAUL* ASSOCIATION.) (Received September 20th, 7.30 p.m.) NEW YORK, September 19. Reports from Chicago state that Tunney concluded his active training to-day with boxing drill that impressed observers. He is stronger and more skilful than a year ago. He declared, "I am fit. I can honestly say I never felt better in my life." To-morrow and on Wednesday he will punch the bag a little. His last boxing session showed him accurate in timing blows and in feinting for attack. Dempsey, who boxed yesterday, remained inactive to-day, and considers his training complete. Onlookers consider him in good condition. Efforts to stop the tight will bo made by a minister of the Gospel seeking an injunction on the ground that such bouts are brutal spectacles and degrading and immoral. The c&rapaign of open letters also promises to continue. It is understood that Dempsey will again demand an explanation of Tunnev's activities previous to the Philadelphia fight. The betting is now even money, with large sums offered by I>empsey's backers.
