RACEGOERS—AND OTHERS.
SPECIAL TRAM FARES. "If this was for a trotting meeting th© fares would bo 9d single, and Is return. The Board takes every opportunity to make the mugs pay. It isn't a fair thing to my mind." These outspoken remarks were made by Mr John Wood, deputy chairman of the Tramway Board, at yesterday's meeting, when an application for fare concessions on the Lincoln road line was under consideration.
The Labour Day Celebration Committee asked for the extension of the 2id section, Lincoln road, to the stop beyond Jerrold street. Mr Walter moved, "That the request be granted," and referred to the concession previously granted to the Elmwood school. It was explained that that concession involved no reduction in fare. The ordinary fare to the stop mentioned in the letter was Sid. It was decided to refer the application to the Works and Traffic Committee in order that comparisons with what had been done in the past should be made.
