CANTERBURY CENTRE. A meeting o£ the Canterbury Centre of the N.Z.A.AA. was held last night, Mr "W. C. Flewellyn presiding". Mr C. H. Taylor stated that the team to represent Canterbury at the championships would be going into training about the end of August. He submitted a programme of evening atkletio meetings that could be held.
It was decided to forward the programme to the various club secretaries for consideration.
The question erf awarding blazers and badges to athletes who represented Canterbury was discussed. The matter was held, over until the annual meeting. The programme for the Aehburton to Christchurch road race was adopted. Ht H. Cross moved that boys under 17 years be not allowed to enter for the race. He stated that he had seen young boys in a very bad condition after the race. The strain was too great for them. Mr J. K. Moloney moved as an amendment that the age be limited to 16 years.' The amendment was carried.
A sub-committee was set up to select officials for the Ashburton-Christohurch road raca.
Mr C. H. Taylor, jun., was nominated as the Canterbury representative to the Selection Committee to choose the New Zealand team which would compete in the championships. The chairman stated that the Centre should forward to Wellington the names of those who would assist as officials at the Australasian championships. He moved that the following names be forwarded:—Messrs C. S. Thomas, L. A G. Rich, KBeattie, J. K. Moloney, C H. Taylor, and W. C. Flewellyn. The motion was carried.
