STAFF DANCE. tJ-M On Monday night, despite the very inclement weather prevailing, over eighty couples attended the fifth annual staff dance of Kincaids, Ltd., held in the Winter Garden. Spirited musio was supplied by Margaret Middleton's Orchestra. The excellent arrangements for the evening reflected great credit on the committee, comprising Messrs J. R. Tryon, W. Tull, L. King, L. Downing, and R. H. Crocker (hon. secretary), who spared no effort to ensure the comfort and enjoyment of their guests. The duties pf M.C. were efficiently carried out by Messrs W. Tull and L. Downey.
Mr and Mrs A. E. Kincaid, Mr and Mrs, W. Jackson, and Mr and Mrs R. A. Bagsham were- the guests of the committee for the evening. Novelty dances included streamers and balloons, lucky spot, won by Miss Tui Elsmore and Mr W. W. Kaye, Monte Carlo, Miss Forward and Mr Stan King, while the lucky snowball was secured by Miss Caw. Before supper, goggles for the ladies and miniature hats for the gentlemen, were distributed, and caused endless amusement.

Bowls of greene<ry decorated the lounge and clusters of gailycoloured balloons were hung in the ballroom and later distributed among the guests. Novelties and favours were provided for each guest. [THE PBESS Special Service.] WELLINGTON,' July 26. There passed away at the Home of Our Lady of Compassion, Island Bay, on July 19th Mrs Theresa Mary Casey, an old resident of Wellington, where she was born in 1855. A Solemn Requiem High Mass was celebrated at St. Francis De Sales's Church," Island Bay, to-day, the celebrant being the Rev. Dr. C. W. Casey, S.M., son of the deceased, whilst the Rev. Dean Connolly (Kilbirnie) was. deacon, and the Rev. Father Chapman, S.M. (Kilbirnie), sub-deacon. Father Mark Devoy was Master of Ceremonies. The Mass was sung by the clergy under the direction of the Rev. Father Ryan, S.M., of St. Patrick's College. Over 20 priests were present as well as the Rev. Mother Cecilia, Sister Mary Vincent (daughter of the deceased), and other Sisters of the Community of Our Lady of Compassion, who attended the deceased during her illness. The service at the graveside was conducted by the Rev. Dr. Casey, S.M. Mrs Casey was the widow of the late John James Casey, of the old.firm of Casey and McDonald, drapers, . of Lambton quay. She leaves four sons, five daughters, and five grandchildren.
PARTY AT "WAIPUNA." | At "Waipuna " the beautiful home of Mr and Mrs F. M. Warren, their daughter, Mrs Maurice Johnston, yesterday afternoon, was hostess at a charming party, given in honour of Miss Enid Minty, who is to be married next month. The guests arrived bearing oddshaped parcels varying greatly in size and weight, each containing some article suitable for the equipment of the bride-elect's kitchen in her new home, which is to be in the Wairarapa district. The ladies of St. David's Church,' Belfast, assisted by others interested in the work of St. George's Hospital, held a very successful social in the Town Hall. Through the efforts of_a hard working committee the funds will benefit to the extent of over-£3O.- The expenses of the social were defrayed by generous donors who were called upon by members of the committee, and a big saving was effected by the generosity of members of the Habgood family from Balcairn. who very kindly supplied music for the dancing free of charge. Mr F. Comyns also played several extras. The decorative scheme for the dance rfibm, carried out in pink,' mauve, and blue, fully justified tie trouble taken by those responsible, many complimentary references being made to it. Messrs G. SOCIAL EVENING. The second staff social of the New Zealand Farmers' Co-operative Association, Ltd., was held in the Association's tea room on. Monday evening. In spite of the inclement weather, there was a large attendance. The first part of the evening was devoted to progressive euchre and ping pong, whilst games, songs, : and elocu-' tionary items completed the evening.. The Itev. J P. W. Dyer officiated, and Miss Lorna Wood was organist. , The bride,- who was given away by her father, wore a long-waisted frocK of white crepe de chine with georgette sleeves, trimmed with satin ribbon and a pearl spray worked on the bodice. , Her tulle veil was surmounted .with orange blossom, and she carried a bouquet of narcissi, winter, roses, and maidenhair fern. , ■' .. ■ ~ . She was attended by her cousin, Muo Mona Greer, as bridesmaid. She Wor« a dress of almond green orepe de chine trimmed with gold .lace, and ,a black satin and tulle nat with almond green trimmings. Hter was of autumn flowers; Mr Ron. 'Pawsey attended his brother as best man; After the ceremony a reception was held in the Staveley where the many guests were received by the bride's mother, who wore a brown frock with Oriental trimmings; and a hat to tone. The bridegroom's step-mother wore a wine-coloured* .coat-frock and hat to match. The usual toasts were honoured. The happy, couple later left on their wedding tour,' tile bride wearj ing a henna dress and wine-coloured coat with fur trimmings. MARSH—MAFFEY. A quiet but very pretty wedding was celebrated ,at St. John's Anglican Church, Hororata, on Tuesday afternoon, when Olive, , elder daughter of .Mr and Mrs Bert • Maffey, Hororata, was married to John Marsh, of Gleno tunnel. The ceremony was conducted by the Rev. H. N. Roberts, and Miss Maffey, aunt of the bride, was organist. ... ! The bride,, who was escorted by her father, wore, a smart frock, of ivory crepe de chine. Her veil was beautifully embroidered with true lovers' j knots and fell from a coronet of orange | blossoms. A beautiful bouquet completed her toilette. Miss Thelma Maffey attended her sister ae bridesmaid.' She wore a strii-' ing frock of apricot crepe de chine with bead trimmings, and carried a. pretty bouquet. Mr Calder carried out the duties of best man. Mrs B. Maffey, mother of the bride, wore a hanckome frock of brown velvet with brown silk trimmings, and hat match. After the ceremony a reception was ! held at the home of the bride's parents. Mr and Mrs J. Marsh left later in the afternoon, for their honeymoon, the briße wearing a navy blue repp dress, navy blue coat, and fawn hat'. Their future home - will be in Glentunnel.
