THIRSTY AMERICAN TOURISTS

A Toronto message states tfiat the Canadian farmers' taxes have been lessened considerably through thirsty American tourists crossing the bolder to procure beer, wines, and other liquor. It is announced that the' Ontario Provincial Legislature will have balanced its budget for the first time in twenty years, with the prospect of tax reductions amounting to 2,000,000 dolThe province of Ontario, under prohibition, appeared to be saturated with illicit liquor from bootleggers and "blind pigs," and the rate of arrests m dry Ontario was formerly higher than the neighbouring wet Quebec. Now, with the province wet, legal sales are expected to run to about 30,000,000 dollars, compared with the estimated 35,000,000 under the former illicit bootlegging.
