REPAIRING FREIGHTER'S BOILERS.
[THE PRESS Special Service.]
WELLINGTON, July 20. Bepairs to the freighter Haggersgatc, which arrived at Wellington la 1 * on Saturday night from New Plymouth, and was berthed at Thorndon breastwork yesterday morning, are likely to be rather lengthy. This steamer is usually employed in the Argentine service, but for the last few months she has been running in the Nauru jslf-nd-Auckland-New Plymouth phosphate service. She was on the point of leaving the wharf at New Plymouth recently when it was found that one of the boilers was leaking. On investigation further damage was discovered, and it was decided to effect temporary repairs to enable the ship to come Wellington. She is now here for the purpose of survey and overhaul to her boilers. The survey is not yet finished and it will be some time before the exact extent of the repairs necessary is ascertained.
