FIGHTING IN NICARAGUA.
UNITED STATES MARINES ENGAGED. (BY CABLE—PBESS ASSOCIATION— COPTBIGHT). (AUSTBAIJAN AND JT.Z. CABTJi ASSOCIATION.) MANGAGUA (Nicaragua), July 18. One United States Marine was killed and another wounded in a battle fought by 39 marines and 47 Nicaraguan constabulary against 400 men armed with machine guns belonging to the forces of the former Liberal General, Sandino, who attempted to capture the town of Ocotal, 63 miles south-east, oi Tegucigalpa. It is reported that 100 rebels were killed and 200 wounded. United States aeroplanes were sent from Managua by Brigadier-General Feland when he heard that the marines were outnumbered, and the aeroplanes raked the rebels' lineß, WAR PROPHESIED. SAN FRANCISCO, July 18. De la Silva, a Nicaraguan, commenting on the engagement between the United States marines and Nicaraguans, told the Pan American Federation of Labour: "War is on if the .marines do npt leave the country, even if we have to destroy the whole population of Nicaragua."
