HEATHCOTE NEWS.
Rifle Match. The Sydenham rifle team were successful in their match against the Heathcote team on Wednesday evening at the Heathcote range. The Sydenham team scored 269 points against 260. Birthday Party. Mr and Mrs J. Williams, Cook's lane, entertained a number of friends and relatives at their residence on Saturday evening to celebrate the twenty-first birthday of their youngest daughter, Miss Eva Williams. A very happy time was spent by those present, mnsic and dancing being indulged in nntil a late hour. During the evening Mr Williams presented his daughter with the eustomary gold key. Euchre Tournament. A euchre tournament was held la the schoolroom, Heathcote, on Saturday evening, in aid of the school funds. The prise-win-ners were: Ladies, Mrs Arnold 1. Miss Walford 2; men, J. Andrews 1, G. Gable 3. Personal. Mrs Geary, an old resident of Heathcote, passed away at her residence, Lee street, on Monday afternoon. Her husband was one of the first settlers on the Cheviot Estate, and later retired owing to ill-health. Mr 0. Williams, of Mt.
