LYTTELTON NEWS.

Billiards. The Lyttelton Club's weekly flying fifty billiards tournament, on Monday night, was won by T. Gellety. Firs Brigade. The Lyttelton Volunteer Fire Brigade has received a cheque for £5 for its recreation fund from Messrs J. D. Miller, Ltd., in recognition of the Brigade's good work at the nre at the firm'B premises at the dockside. Oddfellows' Hall. The Oddfellows' Hall was crowded on Monday evening, when a Maori entertainment was given under the auspices of .the Lyttelton Methodist Church. A small concert party of Maoris from the North Island were responsible for the whole programme, which consisted of poi dances, hakas, karangas, and waiatas. The singing was particularly beautiful, and every item of the entertainment was much enjoyed by the large audience. Harbour Light Theatre. _ "Hero of the Big Snows," starring Rln-tin-tin, will be repeated at the Harbour Light Theatre to-night, together with a comedy, garette, and the final episode of "The Radio Detective." To-morrow "Don Juan," a Master Picture production, in which John Borrymore has the role of the world's most famous, or infamous, lover. The supporting programme includes a comedy, and a News reel. The reserve plan is at King and Cousins.

Fanciers' • Club. The Lyttclton Fanciers' Club's annual dinner wag held in the Canterbury Hotel on Saturday evening. The chair was occupied by the club's president, Mr W. Wright, who welcomed the visitors and stated that the present show, though not a record entry, was by far the most select exhibition they had obtained yet. He complimented the exhibitors on the excellence of their exhibits. The following toasts were honoured: "The King," the president (Mr W. Wright); ' 'Parliament," by his Worship the Mayor (Mr F. E. Sutton), responded to by Mr J. McOombs, M.P.; "The South Island Poultry Association," by Mr W. 0. 0. Smith, responded to by Mr Geo. Jeffries; "Tho Donors," by Mr H. Roderick, responded to by Mr Mansen; "The Judges," by Mr R. Cairns, responded to by Mr Tritt and Mr J. D. Gobbe; "The Mayor and Councillors," by Mr J. Hughes, responded to by the Mayor and Or. McDonald. Queen Carnival. A meeting of the supporters of the School Queen in the forthcoming Queen Carnival will be held in the schoolroom this evening at 7.15.
