FAT SHEEP. There was a heavier yarding of fat sheep than the previous week, some fourteen pens being occupied. Thoro was a fair percentage of prime wethers, including handy-weight, fine-v/oolled aorta and some crossbreds. Ewes, however, formed the bulk of the yarding, the' quality being mixed. There was a good steady sale throughout, at about the same rates as last week for both butchers' and exporters' lines, heavy ewes, if anything, being a shade easier. The range of prices was:— Extra prime wethers, to 82s lOd. Prime wethers, 27b to 80s. Medium wetheW, 25s to 26s 9d. Light wethers, 20s Gd to 24s 6d. Extra prime ewee, to 26s Id. FAT CATTLE. The firmer tone of the beef market the previous week, as well as the continued dry weather, had fho effect of bringing forward a larger supply, the yarding being a very heavy one, totalling 666,' as against 437 last week.. and it is said to be the second largest number ever offered in the yarde. There was a good percentage of prime heavy steers including several station lines. One of the primest lines was sent in by Mr W. Leonardo (Hickory) and consisted principally ol Hereford and Polled Angus crosses. The balance of the Yarding wa6 of the usual average; cows again being offered, in large numbers. The market in consequence of the extra heavy supply showed an easier tone, but prioes were only down on the average of about £1 to £1 Ss per head. The demand was well sustained to the end of the sale and prices remained on about the same level as at the opening. Choice beef sold up to 3Gs per 1001b, prime quality steers and heifer 3 30s to 30s per 1001b, medium 25s to 29s per 1001b, and rough cow beef was as low as 20s per. 1001b. The market was topped by Messrs Sharpe Bros. (Halswell), the tops of whose line of 21 steers sold up to £l6 '2s 6d. Mr W. Leonardo's line of 23 steers made . £l2 12s Cd to £ls 17s 6d, and seven head from Mr J. F. Buchanan (Little River) brought £l3 2s fed to £ls 17s €d. Of the station lines the St. Helens draft of 40 steers' sold at £9 17s 6d to £l4 12s 6d. The range of prices was: ..'Extra, prime heavy steers, to £l6 2s 6d. Prime medium-weight steers, £l2 to £l4. Medium oualily steers, £8 5s to £ll 10s. Light and unfinished steers, .£5 12s 6d to £B. . Extra prime heifers to £l3 12s 6d. Prime heifers, £7 15s to £9. Light heifers, £4 to £7 10s. Extra prime cows, to £ll 12s 6d. Ordinary cows, £4 to £5 10s. Prime cows, £6 to £B. Sough com, 43 7> 6d to £5 B*.
