BOY'S PRACTICAL JOKE. NEEDLE POINT IN SPINE. (SPECIAL TO TBB PEESB.) GREYMOUTH, April 5. A practical joke which had serious consequences to the victim Was played by a pupil in an upper standard of the Grey State school yesterday. The joker stuck a needle in the toe of his boot, which was moved rapidly in the direction of a young boy sitting in front of him. When the needle struck the victim he sprang out of his seat and collapsed, after striking his back against the rear of the desk. The boy was taken to the hospital, where an X-ray jxaniinati i was held to-day, when the point of the needle was found enbedded in the end of hi* spine. He is now reported to be making satisfactory progress.
