N.Z. TEAM. A STAT AT COOK ISLANDS. [THE PBESS Special S«rYic#.] WELLINGTON, April 5. The Hon. Sir Maui Pomare. Minister for the Cook Islands, has received radio advice from the Resident Commissioner at Earolonga that the members of the New Zealand cricket team, who loft Wellington for their English tour by the Tahiti on Tuesday, March 29th, arrived at Rarotonga on Saturday morning last, all in good health and excellent spirits. The weather conditions during their stay at the Islands were very good. The programme of entertainment prepared by the Cook Islands officials and the residents included a luncheon party, a motor drive round the island, with bathing and afternoon tea at the Commissioner's beach shack at Titikaveka, and a most enjoyable practice match with a Earotonga eleven. The Resident Commissioner concludes his message by saying that the members of the New team thoroughly enjoyed their day ashore at this last outpost of Dominion territory, on their journey to England.

CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION. MEETING OF COMMITTEE. i The committee of the Canterbury Cricket Association met last evening, Mr R. B. Ward presiding. Others present were:—Messrs A. Dey, W. H. Winsor, H. M. Chrystall, R. C. Burns, C. T. Rix, It. H. North, if. Sinclair, W. King, and E. E. Luttrell. . The Canterbury Rugby Union wrote that the Union's willingness to allow the Lancaster Park Board to grant the Association the use of the Park on April 2nd must not bo regarded as a precedent for encroaching on the Ilugby season. Tho statement of receipts and payments in connexion with the Melbourne Cricket Club v. Canterbury match showed a loss of £7 11a tOd. The principal payments were: New Zealand Cricket Council's guarantee £3OO, Victory Park share £39 16s 4d, Victory Park charges £22 19s, catering £3O lis 6d, and advertising £lO 4s 9d. The gross gate receipts were £472 03 6d, and programme rights £3. The Cashmero School Cricket Club wrote thanking the Association for itß kind action in granting' eleven free passes for the Melbourne v. Canterbury match. The patients of the Ttannerdala . Home wrote thanking the Association for privileges extended during the cricket seasons. The Victory Park Board wrote that it had under, consideration the question of laying. concrete practice wickets at the Park, and desired the opinion of the Association on the subject. The, matter was referred to tho East Christchurch and Linwood Clubs. The Timaru "Wicket. The criticism' of the Timaru Wicket by the manager of the Canterbury team, Mr M. Sinclair, during the recent Canterbury v. South Canterbury cricket match, was referred to. . The eecretary of tho South Canterbury Association wrote that his Association took exception to the report by Mr Sinclair on' the wicket. The South Canterbury Association had made every .effort to produce a good wicket in return for tho kindness shown m visiting Timaru. ~ , r Mr W. H. Winsor said that actually Mr Sinclair's statement was not in any way derogatory to the South Canterbury people.
