PAPANUI FIRE.
RUBBISH DUMP ABLAZE. Last evening the fire Brigade received anoth'er call to a fire in Papaonui. About 5.30 p.m. the City Council rubbish dump in Matsou's road was blazing fiercely, and although the chemical engine from St. Albans was quickly on the scene, it had little or no effect. As the fire was spreading rapidly it was necessary to call an engine up from the City station. Over 1000 feet of hose had to be run out before any water. could be obtained, and then only suffi- J cient to supply one lead. The firo n'Jis j at length extinguished. I HEDGE DESTROYED. A blaainp; gorse hedge in Chichester street. Papanui, attracted a crowd there shortly before seven o'clock last night.
