LAWN TENNIS.
INTERPROVINCIAL MATCH. OTAGO V. CANTERBURY. The secretary of the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association (Mr R. Browning) has been advised that the Otago team to play Can-' terbury in the annual interpovincial match at Wilding Park: to-morrow is as follows: Men—Dr. Moody (manager and captain), W. Bray, B. Guy, S. G. McDougall, G. Clark, and G. M. Cleghorn. Ladies—Miss Pattison, Mrs Gale, Miss White, Mies SfcAdam, Mrs Tregear, and Miss Moloney. The team i* a particularly strong one, and an interesting contest is expected. Last year, in Dunedin, the Canterbury team was defeat ed_ by a narrow margin of one set, the matches being 12 each. This will be the last interprovincial tennis match to be played in Christchuroh this season. The courts promise to be in splendid condition, as the result of the recent rain. Play will commence at 9.30 a.m., but the most important matches will be reserved for the.afternbon. SUMNER CLUB. Mrs T. F. Chambers recently organised a junior competition for the younger members of the tennis section of the Sumner Croquet Club. In the primary school section the girls' play was very good all through; the boys showing great promise were 'R. Dobson and W. Mathews. In the secondary school division good tennis was played, particularly by M. Browne and J. McDonald and D. Alexander and R. Glackin in the doubles, and by B. Lee, R. Newburgh, and ,R. Glackin. in the boys' singles. The following are the results:— PRIMARY DIVISION. Girls' Singles—First round: 3?. Turnbull beat E. Turnbull; O. Watson boat J. Bow. Second round: G. Watson beat F. Bailey beat M. Chambers and F. Glackin; R. Newbnrgh and K. Gibson beat E. Carew and R. Bailey; N. Lee and B. Lee beat P. Phipps and R. Collins; M. Browne and J. McDonald beat D. Alexander and R. Alexander lost to N. Lee; E. Chambers lost to D. Mathews; P. McCombs lost to J. Gibson. Second round: R. Collins lost to R. Bailey; W. Lee lost to M. Browne. ELLESMERE ASSOCIATION. The Ellesmere Lawn Tennis Sub-Associa-tion has decided to hold a tournament at Leefton at Easter, starting on Good Friday, restricted to members of clubs affiliated to the sub-aesociation. Mr W. A. Sawyer, of Leeston, has given a. trophy, and Mr Cordner, of Baiaia, a cup. INTER-CLUB COMPETITIONS. Following is the draw for the remainder of the round in the inter-club competitions (matches to be played on tho courts of the first-named club in pach case): — A Grade—March 12: Southbridge v.
