ANTERBURY MARKETS
DULL MARKET. tPt OUE COUkZSCUi. IDITOF..) Tuesday Evening. There ii a decided lack of uniformity a'ooiit wheat values. Occasional growers .this week have received 5s 7d and os ( Jd lor Hunters, and others os u'd, os 3d. ami iii one case os 4}d, for Tuscan. These prices are on trucks. However, not a great amount of business is passing. Local mills have now fair supplies on hand, and heavy cargoes of Australian wheat purchased by northern mills are restricting er.quiiy from that quarter. These cargoes are now on their way. Fowl wheat, which had been selling freely at os 8»d, f.0.b., is in quieter demand. Yields as reported from threshings in Mid and North Canterbury, continue liHi. though there is the usual proportion that comes under the classitic.ition of ' ; not up to expectations." Price of Flour. An announcement is expected at any moment in regard to a reduction in the price of flour. Last season's local grist has remained at £lB a ton, notwithstanding, the parity of imported flour being 30s a ton less. With wheat at os 6d to os Br> a bushel the flour price mentioned is difficult to support. No doubt bran and pollard will be reduced at the same time, as these products hare come back in price in Australia. Oats and ?eas. A grade Garton.oats were offering today at 3s f.0.b., s.i., or 2s 4}tt on trucks, without buyers. The Home market for peas is depressed, and there is an easing in the local demand. Potatoes and Onions. Potatoes are firmer as a result of Auckland enquiry, and the effect on yields the continued dry weather is likely to have. . In North and MidCanterbury this is fairly certain to be pronounced. Another factor in the position is that the Pukekohe crop is reported to be coming in in blighty condition. Advices fnom the north state that many deliveries hare had to be picked over, practically the next day, and that it is obrious that Auckland will want southern tubers much earlier than merchants expected some time ago. Business was done with Auckland to-dav at £4 2s 6d, f.0.b., s.i., or £3 on trucks. The onion market has come back rather pronouncedly, rallies to-day being £3 10s on trucks for prompt delivery, and £3 5s for later. There is very little demand, as there are still imported onions in use. Quotations.
