WAIMATE STOCK MARKET, Enquiry was active for rape lamb* last week at fairly good prices. Several sales were made of mixed sex lambs from 91a 6d to 235, while from 18s 6d to 19a was the price obtained for lines in slightly backward' condition. At recent sales cull lambs nave brought from 18s 6d to 15s 6d and good ewe lambs from 33a 6d to 265. Hon animation ia evident in the ewe market, and good, guaranteed sound-mouthed ewes for March delivery fetch round about 80s. It is rather soon for farmers to be buying, as they do not stock up till after the stubble paddocks are cleared, and it ia hard to sell any small lines of ewes. Two-tooth ewes have sold at from 81a to Sis, and a small line of four-tooth ewes found a buyer at S6s. In view of the present outlook for mutton and the probable shortage of turnips, wethers are still difficult of sale, buyers not being prepaied to give the prices asked. In other classes of sheep the demand has equalled the supply. However, sheep are continually coming forward in larger quantities, snd prices stc due to recede unlets the market can absorb the offerings, but this contingency, if it does happen, will not be for long, as sheep will be wanted once stubble feed is available. Boring at the 15 level is proceeding, but the last published news was that quarti had been penetrated which did not carry ralnei. | EGG AUCTION.
