APPLE EXPORT.
BSCELLHNT SEASON EXPEOTED. [THB PBSM «P*eUl ferric*.] WELLINGTON, February 15. The prospects for our fruit on the English market this season appear to be excellent, said. Mr Napier, secretary of . the Fruit Export Control Board, to-day. Thik is mainly due to the fact that Australian exports this season will be considerably below those of last year. Against this, however, the exportable surplus from New Zealand tnis year will be about 100,000 cases less than last season. This was only to. be expected under the very adverse weather circumstances that fruitgrowers were working under during the spring and early summer. The first shipment of New Zealand applet this season was. tasen by the Corinthio, which lift Wellington for London on February 9th. The shipment comprised 4200 cases, mainly GrAvcnsteina, Worcesters, Pearmains, and Cox's Orange, and will arrive in England in ample time for the Easter trade. The Cambridge, leaving Wellington this week, is taking 20,000 cases of apples for England, and the Mahana will load 85,000 cases next week.
