+. . "BURNS NICHT." The anniversary of the birth of ftobsrl Burns was celebrated in tho Scottish Society's rooms, Manchester street, on Thursday evening (the rooms being engaged on the 25th inst.). Chief John S. Chisholm presided, supported by his chieftains. A large assemblage of Scots forgathered to celebralo tho event. 'ln his opening remarks, the Chief made reference to tho reason of this annual gathering. The Pipe Band of the Society opened with a selection w Buna's Poems. The following performers gave tho various items during the evening:—Songs, Mrs Pearco and Mrs Wcthered, Misses D.Bruce and N.Dickson; recitation (address to a Haggis), Master D. Dickson; song, Mr Macquarric; violitf solo, Mr Johnston; dances, Fling, -Miss Johnston; Scann Triubhais, Miss D. Bruce; Gillie Calura, Miss D. PhiUipson; Reel oif Tulloch, Misses Bruce, PhiUipson, McLachkn, and Johnston; accompanist, Mrs Macquanic. .
