MINIATURE RIFLES.
SEDGEMERE-LAKESIDE CLUB. With a view to providing a better shooting wnge than it has been using hitherto, a deputation from the Sedgemere-Lakeside Miniature Rifle Club waited upon the Sedgemere Hall Committee and put forward a suggestion that the two bodies should unite and build a room suitable for a rifle range. To get the required length of range at the present time, the shooting has to be done through two three-feet opened doorways. This is found inconvenient when two men were shooting at the same time. _ The dimensions of the new range require to be at least 90 feet long by 14 feet wide. The Hall Committee agreed to co-operate with the Miniature Rifle Club assist in every way possible, the building of a rango. As the range would have to be built on the westerly Bide of the hall, more land would be needed, and it agreed to take steps to procure this. , At a further combined meeting of the Miniature Rifle Club and Hall Committee, the chairman, Mr J. T. Parkin, reported that Messrs Howson Bros, had agreed to give whatever land was required as a site for the range, and to plant a shelter belt of trees on the western side of the hall., A vote of thanks wbb passed to Messrs Howson Bros, for their liberality. It was decided to hold a bazaar next April to raise funds for the building of the range, and Mr R. L. Cant was elected secretary. Mr A. McLaughlin offered to give a fat lamb, Mr F. Alexander a pig, Mr J. Griffin a hamper, and Mr L. Smith a roll of bacon for disposal at the bazaar. It was decided to canvass for further gifts, and to hold another meeting to elect com-, mitlees.
