HUNTING.

CHRISTCBURCH HOUNDS.

The Christchurch Hounds met at Kirwee on Tuesday last, and hunted over the country adjacent to the Midland Bailway line, between Kirwee and Darfield. Owing to the Master not being able to be out, Mr J. H. Grigg (deputy) took charge, and threw huiids o$ in one of Mr Gallagher's paddocks, where a haro was immediately afoot. Making west towards a homestead, hounds swung right-banded, and eventually ran out on to the railway line, where they had to be whipped off. Going back to kbe other aide of Mr Gallagher's homestead, & strong hare was found, which gave followers a merry run through Mr Murohison'a back farm, turning left-handed into Mr Gill's, and then back into the paddock where she was found, where hounds ran to view, and after an excitiag epurt bowled her over on the edge of a grass road amongst all the spectators. Although this run only lasted about twenty minutes, it was fast, and proved the best of the day. Several runs were obtained afterwards, but at times scent was bad, and hounds could not work the line. Several qualifiers were out, Mr G. Pulton's Tempter, Mr Elworthy's Panmure gelding, and Bandalero, who looks a rare cut of a horse for cross-country. Several horses belonging to active members of tho club have mot with mishaps lately, wbioh will put them out for the rest of the season, and will mo-ke tho fields in tho Point-ta-Point Steeples smaller. The JPoint-to-Point will be held on Saturday week, July Brd, at Kirwee, the storting point being in the vicinity of the local Baleywds. ~ . . The annual dance to the farmers whbse country hounds have crossed will be held at Darfield tho night beforo the races (July 2nd), commencing at' 8.30 p.m. The club wishes to thank all those farmers who have allowed hounds to cross their farms on Tuesday, namely, Messrs P.
