DRAINAGE WORKS
ASSISTANT ENGINEERS APPOINTED. SPEEDING-UP OPERATIONS. In accordance with the policy of tlie Drainage Board to push on as quickly as possible with tho work of laying the sewers and reticulating tho sewered areas, two assistant engineers have been appointed under the Board's engineer, Mr Jas Cullens. The erection and equipment of pumping stations being well forward, the work of reticulation is to be gone on with vigorously, aud in order to effect this additional engineering assistance is necessary. The appointments made are: Messrs C. F. Marshall-Smith, B.E. (N.Z.), A.N.Z. Soc. C.E., and B. B. Swinburn, M.N.Z., Soc. C.E., Registered Engineer. Mr Marshall-Smith, whose application came from Mount Maunganui, near Tauranga, is a graduate of the Canterbury College School of Engineering, and expects to report for duty next Wednesday. Mr Swinburn wrote from Marton, and is iu the employ of the Wanganui-Ran-gitikei Power Board. He will take up his duties a month hence. It is understood that additional appointments to the Board's engineering staff will bo made in the course of a few days.
