MOTHERS' UNION.

TO TUB EDITOR OF "THE PRESS." Sir,—ln reply to "Mother's" letter in to-day's "Press," I should like to state the following facts, . and then leave it to your readers to judge lor themselves as to whether the proceedings of the Council were hasty and unstrKesnif.nlike. "The arguments tor the other side," referred to by "Mother," were copies of a circular explaining the platform of the "Religious Exercises in Schools BUI" and a letter dealing with the work of the League. Both were issued bv the B.T.S. League. Those arguments were posted •on the 20th ult. to every member of Council, with a copy of' the resolution I proposed moving, thus "iviiig those who were opposed over a week in which to collect arguments for their side.' That they failed to do so is not the fault of those members of tho Council who were in favour of the resolution. Ample time was given for discussion, and I think tho lesult of the voting, 47 to 5, shows that almost all the members were of the same opinion as they were two years ago. Is not "Mother's" attitude u httle unsportsmanlike ?—Yours, etc., EVA ROBERTS, Dis. Pres. M.l\ May oth.

WHEAT PRICES.

!T0 THE EDITOR OF "THE PRESS." Sir,—ln jour issue this morning ap- '. pears a letter signed "Labour," regarding wheat prices in Australia. In this, J your correspondent mentions that his price of 5s 6d for wheat in Australia 'is correct, end that my previous statement was not right. I specially sent a cable to Melbourne to enquire the lowest price of wheat, and I got.a reply last Thursday that wheat was 6s Bd, that is, milling wLeat. This information came from one of the biggest houses in Australia mixed up with the wheat business, and therefore its correctness is beyond dis- ' piite. Notwithstanding what your correspondent states, or what news he has picked up out of some newspaper, the indisputable fact remains that woeat last Thursday was 6s 8d in Melbourne. I enclose for your perusal, •Mr Editor, cable reply, which bears' out j the above statement.—Yonrs, etc.. MERCHANT. I May 4ih.
