THREE HUNDRED MEN IDLE.
STRIKE IN COAL MINE. (press association txlbqbax.) AUCKLAND, April 28. A dispute at tho Glcnafton collieries, affecting three hundred employees, has reached a deadlock. The miners refused to resume work until the directors went to Glenafton to discuss tho points at issue. Ono of those is the employment as miners, of two men who had been employed on outside work for the last eighteen months, the Union contending that the men to be employed in the mine, must be drawn from the truckers. Another ground of objection is tho employment of two men who hacl only recently arrived in the country, when thero were members of the Union, at Huntly, available. The mine manager replied to-day that under no circumstances would the directors visit Glcnafton to discuss the matter until work was resumed. The miners' secretary later rejoined that tho men could not resume until the matter was discussed. There the matter stands. Mr P. Hally, Conciliation Commissioner, left to-night for Glenafton, in connexion with the dispute.
