For a short eeason af five nights only at the Theatre Boyal, commencing on Stturday next, J- C. Williamson,. Ltd., present iho mtnictl ccniedy "Primrose." The story of Hilary Vane (Leyiand Hodgson) tiying to make bis novel plot work out to tie liking of Joan in the next serial instalment goes coherently—in "Primrose" —through two acts; tinisning in Act 111. in 8. series of astonishing spectacles which make tho entertainment cad on a high note of excellence. A finale set in the stiff Regency period is a particularly tino feature. In this aot is introduced for the first time in Xcw Zealand the "clothing by light," which gained much notice in England. By it 6iritch of the "limes" a ballet is mado in turn a company of flour-faced pierrots and pietrettes, a "beano" of Carolina "niggahs" doing a shimmy in cretonno frocks and seaside minstrel e'uit3, and a stately parade of gilk-snd-aitin clad bucks and dames of & costume period: a remarkabla turn. In this i 6 also a gracefully staged and danced "L'Amour d'un Faun," featuring Frod Mackay, snd a clever ballet; and a beautiful dance fantasy—"The Cat and the Moose"—done in shadow with phosphorescent effects, by B-eita Nugent and Fred Mackny. Tho comedy is built round Toby Meopham, of "the Meophams"; namely, George Gee, who justifies the trust reposed in hiru. ilia natural gift for nonsense is aided by sere: al clever lines. He receives good support from Hugh St«yne and their "Mnry Queen of Scots" is a feast of absurdity. Ifnrgery Hicklin as Joan is "sweet" ss the girl who doesn't want to marry Freddie Falls and Bings delightful lyrics with grace and prettiness. A great asset to the entertainment is Miss Dorothy Lena as "Pinkie Peach," slbo Jnck Cannot m Michael The box plans for th« season of five nights are now open at The Bristol.
