HOARDINGS.
+ LICENSES RENEWED. ■ > Ou the recommendation of the Bylaws and Finance Committee, the City Council, at last night's meeting, decided to renew the licenses for two hoardings in Colombo street. The Committee reported as follovra:— "A letter lias been received from Messrs Chandler and Co. Stating that they have effaced all advertising matter from the five hoardings as requested by the Council, viz: (1). at ,the corner, of Colombo and Hastings streets, (3) Colombo street, opposite Sydenham Fire Brigado Station, (3) corner Colombo street and Somerfleld street, (4) Ferry road, Woolston, opposite Manning place, (5) Colombo street, S,t. Albans. The firm applies for the renewal of the licenses for these hoardings. The Committee recommends that as the hoardings in the three latter positioga > are within residential areas, the permit for same be not renewed, but that Nob. 1 and 2, which are considered to bo in business areas, be relicensed." The roport was adopted without discussion. ■
