SYDENHAM PARISH.
The Annual meeting of the parishioners of St. Saviour's, Sydenham, and St. Philip's, Beckenham, was held last night. The vicar, Canon 0. G." Mutter, presided over an attendance of Sixty. The vicar'* report referred to the death ®f Canon Charles Coates, who started work in Sydenham before it was a parish. He trusted that they would have a permanent memorial of him in the church. Mr Raymond Newcombe. Who came as assistant curate. at the end of December, was now we known, and happily at work. At St. Philip's, Beckenham,' steady advance had been-made, and at Spreydon South they were preparing to make as advance. The churchwarden*' report stated that as a result of Canon Mutter's appeal the deficit of £l2O had been reduced to £63. The accounts showed items for repairs, painting, and maintenance, totalling £l3l, which should not recur for 'at least five years. Thanks were expressed to all church worker* in the parish, and especially to Mr R. F. Gallon for keeping the parish accounts in excellent order. The annual report of St. Philip's stated that the balance to credit was just over £6B, as compared with £4O the previous year. • The vicar, in amplifying his report, said that \yhat was in his mind as a permanent memorial of the late Canon Coates was a processional cross. On the motion of Mr C. Hole, and by acclamatSoit. ~a vote of thanks was accorded the vicar. Tho yicar announced that he had reappointed Mr Charles Hole his churchwarden. Dr. D. E, Currie \va3 eleoted people's churchwarden. The folloiving vestry was elected: —Messrs C. J. Willis, W. Andrews, H. W. Logon, W. W. Nicholls, F. D. Wilson, 0. G. Smith, and R. F. Gallon.
