LATE MRS SCOTT.

A FERVENT CHURCH WORKER. In proposing last night, at the annual meeting Of the parishioners of St. Saviour's, Sydenham: "That a vote of condolence and sympathy be sent to Archdeacon Scott on the death of his wife, and that the yicar .be asked to convey it," Canon C. G. Mutter said that some of those present would have heard of Mrs Scott's death for the first time at the previous day's services. Mrs Scott passed away six weeks ago at the age of 81, vigorous and keen to the last. Although he had never known Mrs Scott, many present knew that she Was a remarkable woman, who was not only a power in St. Saviour's, but also throughout the diocese. She did an enormous amount of work for the Girla' Friendly Society, and in her time Sydenham had the finest branch in the whole diocese, due to her unfading interest nnd zeal. Archdeacon and ■Mrs Scott Went to England some years ago, and there, in two localities,- Mrs ScOtt carried on. her work. About a year ago she met with an accident in Which one of her legs Was broken. For the rest of her days; she was confined to her home, but from her couch in the drawing-room Bhe carried on her beneficent work, and hfeld a Bible class for boys every Sunday. Most people on arriving at ißueh an age might be inclined to think that they could give up all work, but Mrs Scott had to be doing Something for the Master. Very real sympathy would be expressol by them with Archdeacon Scott, who was left bereaved. The motion was carried.
