MM,* ASSPOWPWW' MBLBODHNB, April l*> An application has been lodged wth the Registrar of tho Commonwealth Arbitration Court by -the Permanent and Casual Wharf Labourers* Union of Australia for registration as an organisation under the Act. The union has over 1000 members, and its main objects are to prevent strikes and lockoutß and to preserve industrial peace by abstention from direct action and by observance of awards made or sanctioned by the Arbitration Court.An endeavour will be made:to establish 'branches in all the StatesThe headquarters of.the onion ia Ja SydneV. < After a meeting of officials of the Federal Committee of Management of the Watiersidera' Federation, Mr Hupley> general president, stated:—"We have taken steps to bring about a normal state of working in the waterside industry of Australia. Wo aro in « position to say that for the future all disputes between the Watersiders' Federation and employers of maritime labour will be oonduotad on. strictly constitutional lines. We expect to carry out our obligations so far as awards and agreements are concerned, and we have instructed branches to act in accordance with she polity ©at* lined."
