BURWOOD PROGRESSIVE ASSOCIATION.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the Burwood Progressive Association was held in the Shirlev Methodist Schoolroom ou.Thursdav evening, when the following members we're present: —Messrs G. Robinson (president), J. Wilson, F. Cusack, W. Todhuntcr, G. Lewis, D. Falla, J. Liggins, G. Palmer, H. Patterson, L. Mulholland, J. Catherwood, B. Haughey. J. McClurg, A. Islett, B. Bampton, J. Lamb, L. B. Bradstock. Apologies were received from Messrs Jowett, Haughey, Wilson, Caldwell, Donald, and McKechme. The chairman reported on the deputation to the City Council with reference to North Parade road. Several complaints were received from ratepayers with reference to the numerous errorsin the roll of electors for the Waimakariri river loan. It was decided to instruct the secretary to communicate with the controlling authority, and ascertain why different rolls were at Shirley and Woodham road booths, and why some ratepayers were on tho roll five or six times, whilst others who had made application to be enrolled were omitted. Mr H. Patterson reported on his work during his term as councillor, and it was unanimously decided to support his candidature at the forthcoming election, and the following sub-committee was set up to assist him: Messrs G. Robinson, B. Haughey, i. Cusack, W. Fowler, J. Wilson, and J. Liggens. , „ „, After reference had been made to several recent accidents at Hill's road bridge it was decided again to ask the CityTouncil to alter the bridge, and so make it safe for traffic. Xo replv having been received to previous applications to the City Council with reference to Banks avenue, it was agreed to approach that body again, and ask that the road be'made a full chain wide, and also that telegraph poles be removed to a safe position. , ~ , , The Social Committee decided to commence social evenings as soon as permission was obtained from the Church Committee for the use of the hall.
