TMARU. Social and Personal. Miss Fusscll (Dunedin) is visiting Timaru. The Misses Bishop (Christchurch) are the guests of Miss Fussell (Russell iquarc). Mrs C. E. Johnston (Wai-iti road) has returned from Bluecliffs. Miss Gladys Aferedith Kayo arrived from Christchurch yesterday. She will go to the Hermitage to-day. Mrs Melville Jameson (Glcniti) returned yesterday from Wellington. Dr. Eleanor Baker McLaglan (Christchurch). who is in Temuka, will spend the week-end with Mrs C. A. Paterson (Sefton street). Mr and Mrs K. MeLeiinan and Miss F. McLean (Wai-iti road), and Mrs Marks (Geraldine) have returned from Dunedin. Mrs Laidlaw (Wai-iti road) has returned from Dunodin, where she was the guest of Sir John Roberts and Mrs George Roberts at Littlebourne House. Mrs R. H. Rhodes (Sealcy street) motored back from Dunedin yesterday, v.-ith" her guests, Mrs Arthur Martin (Martinborough), and Mrs C. Tosswill (Hastings). The Weather. A sudden change took place in the weather yesterday, when, in place of cold winds and dull days, a hot nor'wester sprang up. There was not a great deal of wind, but the sky remained overcast, and sultry conditions ensued. Several times during the afternoon a few drops of rain fell, but it was too hot for this to last long. WOODBURY. At the annual general meeting of the Woodbury Men's Miniature Rifle Club, fifteen members were present. Mr J. Fifield was voted to the chair. A motion of sympathy was passed to the relatives of last year's president, the late l Major Donkin. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year, subject to their consent:—Patr'ji, Mr T. D. Burnett, M.P.; president, Capt. R. M. Burdon; vice-presidents: The same as for last year, Mr J. M. Barker being added; committee: Messrs J. Fifield, H. Hammond, T.'McKay, B. Rae, J. Shaw, G. Whale, B. Forgusson, J. Fifield (jun.), and H. Wooding (secretary); handicapper, Mr F. Fifield; testers, Messrs B. Baker, T. McKay, J. Mcintosh, H. Hammond; rifle-setters, Messrs F. Fifield and A. Riches; delegates to Association, Messrs J. Shaw and J. Fifield; refreshments steward, Mr J. Shaw. It was decided to hold the weekly practice on ' Saturdays. At the last meeting of the School Committee, the following members were present)— Messrs J. Fifield (chairman), T. P. Wooding, J. Rice, F. Fifield, and the headmaster. The caretaker, Mrs Fifield, sent her resignation which was accepted with regret, and Miss A. Harris was appointed to the position. The secretary reported that the committee's books had been returned by the Board, audited and found correct. A letter was received from the Board asking for the committee's approval of tho proposed Junior High School at Geraldine. It was decided to write'to the Board for.more information on the subject.
