NEGLECT CHARGES.
SEAMEN'S UNION DISPUTE. ■ (Br CABLE —E&ES3 ASSOCIAIKSST COPYHISH'T.y (AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION.} SYDNEY, March 8. • For some'time past there has been a factional fight within the ra,nks of the Seamen's Union, and a crisis -was. reached in the week-end, as a result 1 of which Mr Tom Walsh, general president, and Mr Raeburn, general secretary, have be£n summoned tc attenda special meeting of the Sydney ■ branch to-night, to answer charges of ' neglect of duty in regard to- the adi ministration of the union. Mf Jacob Johnson is the leader of the section which is demanding an explanation from the two officials. The basis of the allegations against Walsh and Raeburn is that they are largely to blame for the present depleted state of the finances of the Melbourne -branch, inasmuch as they failed to secure regular financial statements from branch officials as required under the rules. EXPULSION OF MEMBERS. (AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE . ASSOCIATION.). (Received March Bth, 8.5 p.m.) MELBOURNE, Match 8. The Federal Executive of the Seamen's Union has expelled Jacob Johannsen, W. J. Clarke, and John McGbrrie, members of the Enquiry Committee appointed by the Sydney branch to investigate the Victorian branch finances. The effect Of this action will be that when those members expelled attempt -to address the meeting, in Sydney to-night they will not be heard, as they are no longer members of the Union.
