Harvest Festival Services. Harvest Festival services in connexion -with the Methodist Church were celebrated on Sunday, the preachers being the Rev. G. R. Petersen, in the morning-, and Mr Barrell in the evening. The church was appropriately. decorated, and there was' a good display of harvest gifts. - The singing was a special feature of the eveningls service, the choir und,er the leadership of Mrs W. Huston, singing the "Te Deum," "Sing to the Lord of Harvest," and. "Harvest Song," in addition to the usual harvest hymns. The soloists were Miss J. Hay and Mr M. A. McDowell. A sale by Dutch auction took place last evening to dispose of the goods. Station Renovations. During last week a gang of railway workmen have been engaged in repairing _ and painting the local station and other railway buildings. Personal. Mr and Mrs T. McDowell, of "Wellington, are staying with relatives in Heathcote. . Mrs K. Dickey left by the express on Saturday for a holiday in the south. Mrs T. Arkley, who has been spending a holiday in Australia, arrived home last week. Mr "W. W". Scarff, a member of the Heathcote County Council, and Mr J. H. McAuliffe, County Clerk, of-the Heathcote County Council, returned from Dunedin on Saturday. Bowling. A team of bowlers from Lyttelton played a match with a local team on Saturday afternoon. A close game resulted in each side winning two games. Girl Guides. On Saturday a party of Girl Guides from Christchurch visited Heathcote and carried out field work. Several girls climbed the surrounding hills.
