SWIMMING.

CHRISTCHURCH CLUB. The Christchureh Amateur Swimming Club held a committee meeting on Thursday evening nt the West Christcliurch School. The club captain, R. D. Harker Brown, was in the chair. The following were present:— Messrs G. Gain. W. Burford, C. Curtis. i\ Daley, H. J. Wicks, J. Unwin, B. O'Neill, T. H. Harker, and I'. Wrcdvell. s An apology was received from'Mr J. K. Buchanan. Before tho general business took place, a voto of sympathv was passed to the friends of the late Mr W. A. Francis, the founder of swimming in New Zealand, and patron of the Club. Two new members were elected. Tho following were elccte'd a committee to arraucc for a social afternoon to be held on .Saturday, March 20th, at the club baths: Messrs Harker Brown, Curtis, Daley, liobson, Wicks. The following was tho programme approved:—2syds Handicap, Juniors (mixed), 25yds Ladies', , r >Oyds Breast-stroke (handicap), Clothes and Cigarette .Race, 50yds Free Stylo (handicap), Obstacle Race, Dive, Whistle and Blindfold Race, Tolo Match, A. and B teams. Tho two final distances for tho Harker Brown Cup are to be swum on Sundays, March 7th and 14th, at Redcliffs. If. was decided to start n class at the Tepid Baths for learners from the West Christchureh School during the winter months.
