I>i a letter to Sir Cartin Conway, from New York, Sir Joseph Duveen announces that in order to encourage British art, he is forming a small committee of 10, of acknowledged position and authority, and placing at its disposal £looo' annually to purchase paintings of contemporary British artists, preferably young artists. The committee will hold pictures acquired with power to lend or present them to any public gallery in the British Isles, British Empire, or United States.
