Personal. The Re". A. J. "Pctrie and Mrs Pctrie returned on Thursday from a holiday at Little liiver. Mr Petrie, who is Chaplain to tho Territorial Forces, left on Saturday for Burnbam Camp, where ho will icruain a week. Mr and. Mrs T. Thompson have returned from a visit to Dunedin. Mrs G, Lester is returning to-day from Dunedin. Harbour Light Theatre. ■ There was n packed houso at tho Harbour Light Theatre on Saturday night, when a double-feature programme, consisting ox a laughable and thrilling comedy-romance, "Hold Your Breath," starring Dorothy Devore, and "Rendezvous," featuring Conrad Nigel and Sidney Cluiplin, was Ehown. Miss Merle Miller, the popular Lyttelton sioprano, sang "Lorraine, Loree," "Danny Boy," "A Farewell," and "Love's a Merchant," and tho audience was loft clamouring for more. The pieturo portion o£ tho programme will be repeated to-night. To-morrow the Universal production, "Th% Phantom of the Opera," with its oast of 5000, headed by Lon Chancy, "the man with a thousand faces," and with its ma{jr nificent settings in tho Paris Opera House, will be screened. The reserve plan is at Hatton's. Picnics Postponed. Owing to the heavy rain on Saturday morning, both the Watersiders 1 picnic and the Harbour Board picnic had to be postponed. The watersiders have been unfortunate in their picnic of late years. Last year the picnic was cancelled owiitg to the infantile paralysis restrictions, and the yeax before, after a postponement owing to rain, the picnic was held and the Union was subsequently - prosecuted and fined for taking the holiday. This yeax / one pstponement is allowed in the terms of the /award. The watersiders hope to hold their picnic now on Saturday week, February 13tli, and it is expected that the Harbour Board picnic will be held the same day. Tug-of-War. The following is the draw for tj.e tug-of-war to be held in connexion with a carnival promoted by the Lyttelton Poultry Club and the Lyttelton Gun Club;— First night: Poultry Club A v. Fire Brigade; Returned Soldiers v. Marine Band; Rowing Club v. Gracie's team. Second night: Buffaloes v. Railway; Gun Club v. Population; Reynold's team v. Poultry Club B.;
