RHODES SCHOLARSHIPS.
TWO FOR NEW ZEALAND. (MESS ASSOCIATION -TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, January 29. As was announced in connexion with the last election the Dominion is henceforth to chooso two Rhodes Scholars annually. This decision was convoyed to the University of New Zealand in a cable message from London on November 4th last. Writing more fully to the Registrar on the matter, the secretary of the Rhodes Trust states that "the trustees have long felt the urgency of the claim of New Zealand to an additional scholarship. As will be seen from figures which will be published in the new edition of 'Oxford of To-day,' which is now in the press, New Zealand stands at the head of tho record of Rhodes Scholars from' the Dominions. The trustees are confident that New Zealand v.'ill bo able to send two scliolu,. in future with the same intellectual, moral, and physical qualities as she has sent in the past, and that her scholars will continue to be what they have been, a credit both to New Zealand and to tho Empire."
