DEFENDING DAMASCUS.
BLOCKHOUSES AND WIRE. (BT ASSOCIATION— COPtXIGBT.) (Stdhm "Sun" Sbjwic*.) LONDON, December 20. The French apparently still fear further attacks on Damascus. It ia stated) that it is proposed to surround the city with a series of blockhouses connected with barbed wire, whereby it is hoped to prevent raids from without and to make it impossible for rebels to take refuge in the city, and to emerge later at their own sweet wills as they have been doing hitherto. The scheme is already being put into operation.
