: ♦- — RAILWAYMEN'S BENEFIT SOCIETY. Tho annual general meeting of tho Ckrislchurcb Permanent Railway Employees' Annual Sick Benefit Society was held in tho Guards' Room, at tho Christcurch Railway Station -at 8 p.m. on Saturday. Mr A. Bailey • presided over a, good attendanco of members. They rei>orfc and balance-sheet, which wcro adopted, • showed tho receipts to tho sick benefit fund' to bo £1683 18a 9d, tho expenditure was £BO4 14s. A refund was mado of 7s for each member who had over 20a 1o his credit in tho rcscrvo fund, this absorbing £l6O 4s 6d, leaving £713 Os 3d to be carried forward. Thero had'been 164 claims on iho sick benefit funds during tho year, for sums varying form 10s to £36 15s. Tho total amount paid'in sick, pay for tho year was £562 11b Bch Two members and fivo members' wives had died during tho year, and funeral allowance totalling- £BO had been paid. There wcro 7!)7 members on tho roll. It was. decided to tako, a vote, of tho members on'the question of extending tho period for which £1 per week: shall bo paid from 24 weeks to 52 weeks. Thero was a credit balanco of £6l lis 7d in tho' medical fund, and of £62.193 in tho. hospital fund. Tho following officers wero elected ,for the ensuing year:—President, Mr 'J. Cr. Robb; vice-president, Mr A. Palmer; secretary, Mr AV. Anderson; ; treasurer, Mr H. J. Allen; auditors. Messrs V. Reed and G. V. Hilliard; trustees, Messrs l' 1 . J. Allen and H. Turton; committee, loco, branch, Messrs T. Handisidcs, J. A. Vcitch, and R. Watt; traffic branch, Messrs M. O'Brien, S\ Rood, D. IS. Sinclair,.H. Brosnahan, H. Turton, and A. A. Graham; per. way branch Messrs H. Rhodes, J. Moodie, A. Bailey' and G-. Calvert; works branch, Messrs'W. R. Selwyn, E. E. Clements, S. Stewart, and W. J. Brown. A vote of thanks was passed to all who had assisted in caxTTing on the work during tho past year and also to the Stationmastcr for the use of the room as a meeting placo during tho year.
